LeSean McCoy: 'DeMarco Murray, Ryan Mathews signings made to appease fans'

LeSean McCoy believes that the Philadelphia Eagles have tried to appease their fanbase by signing DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews following his departure from the club.

LeSean McCoy has claimed that the signings of DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews were made to appease the fanbase of the Philadelphia Eagles following his departure.

McCoy was traded to the Buffalo Bills by Eagles head coach Chip Kelly in one of the most surprising moves of the off-season, as the NFC East side lined up Frank Gore to replace him at Lincoln Financial Field.

However, Gore opted out of the move, leading Kelly to sign Murray and Mathews on lucrative deals, which has left their former back perplexed.

"With that media in Philadelphia, they can get tough on you. So I guess that was just the way to make it right. I don't know," McCoy said on The Rich Eisen Show.

"I can't really answer it. They took two backs to replace one. I think DeMarco's a hell of a back. I think he'll do a good job there. I'm not sure how that went."

Murray led the NFL in rushing yards last season as he ran for 1,845 yards along with 13 touchdowns.
