Tom Coughlin full of admiration for David Wilson

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin admits that he is proud of the way David Wilson has taken the news that he will be forced to end his NFL career.

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has revealed that he is full of admiration of the way running back David Wilson has accepted the end of his NFL career.

The 23-year-old was advised by doctors to end his playing days in the league due to a spinal injury after taking a heavy hit during his side's training camp, just months following spinal fusion surgery.

Coughlin told the club's official website: "The whole idea for David is that he fulfilled his dream. Even though his career was cut short, he remains positive and believes God has a plan.

"He has accepted this in such a way that is a great example for all of us. There is no self-pity. David is a strong person and extremely optimistic. He will meet his next challenge in life with the same enthusiasm he approached football."

The Giants selected Wilson with the 32nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
