Patriots file tampering charges against Jets

The New England Patriots have filed tampering charges against the New York Jets in relation to comments by owner Woody Johnson.

The charges relate to remarks by Johnson about cornerback Darrelle Revis as he stated he would "love" to have the 29-year-old back at the Jets, despite being under contract for another season with the Patriots.

Johnson apologised for his comments, but the Patriots have taken the matter to the NFL, which could lead to a punishment for the Jets.

Revis signed a two-year deal for the Patriots last year, but was previously with the Jets from 2007 to 2012.
