Half-Time Report: Minnesota Vikings hold advantage over Philadelphia Eagles

Vikings hold advantage over Eagles

The Minnesota Vikings hold an eight-point lead over the Philadelphia Eagles in their NFL clash at the break.

The Vikings took the lead in the game in the first quarter when quarterback Matt Cassel had all the time in the world to stand up the pocket and fire the ball downfield to Greg Jennings, who made the catch to run into the endzone for the 57-yard score.

Philadelphia got on the board with a field goal after runs of over 20 yards from quarterback Nick Foles and running back LeSean McCoy moved them into the redzone, but they could not get the ball in for the touchdown, leaving Alex Henery to nail the 35-yarder through the posts.

Minnesota extended their advantage through the boot of Blair Walsh with a 21-yard-field goal but they were nearly pegged back level when DeSean Jackson ran into the endzone; however, it was called back for an illegal block by Foles, forcing Henery into kicking a 51-yarder.

The Vikings, who were without Adrian Peterson extended, their advantage to 11 points when Cassel drove his side downfield and then handed the ball off to third-string back Matt Asiata, who powered over the goalline for the one-yard score.

Philadelphia reduced the deficit to eight points before the break with another field goal from Henery from 33 yards.
