Half-Time Report: DeAndre Hopkins touchdown edges Houston Texans ahead

The Houston Texans hold a seven-point lead at the break in their NFL clash against the New York Jets at NRG Stadium.

DeAndre Hopkins has scored the only touchdown of the first half to hand the Houston Texans a 10-3 lead over the New York Jets at the break.

Neither team were able to score in the first quarter as both defenses dominated the early stages of match until the Texans managed to drive to the goalline right before time, but JJ Watt – playing on offense – was unable to make the grab for a touchdown.

Houston did go ahead when Nick Novak fired the short field goal through the posts in the second quarter, but the Jets rallied when Marcus Williams sacked TJ Yates, leading to a fumble from the signal-caller.

The Jets had good field position to forge ahead with a touchdown, but the Texans held them to a field goal, which was fired between the posts by former Houston kicker Randy Bullock.

Bill O'Brien's men responded as Yates fired a strike to Hopkins for a first down, and then the duo combined again for a 61-yard touchdown as the wideout beat Darrelle Revis to claim the catch and put his team ahead.
