Jim Caldwell confident of Ndamukong Suh stay

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell believes that a deal will be struck with Ndamukong Suh to secure his long-term future at the club.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell is confident that the club can come to a long-term agreement with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

The 27-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie deal signed in 2010 and he did miss some of his side's voluntary off-season workouts as contract talks stalled.

However, Caldwell has insisted that discussions are moving in the right direction, but refused to clarify when the deal could be struck.

Caldwell told reporters: "Absolutely. I'm always optimistic... and I think without question [Lions' management and Suh's agent] are working at it. And I think something will be done at the appropriate time."

Suh recorded 49 tackles and 5.5 sacks for the Lions in the 2013 campaign.
