Jason Garrett was never worried about future at Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett admits that he was never concerned that he would not get a new contract to stay at the NFC East side.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has revealed that he was never worried about his future at the club last season.

The 49-year-old entered the 2014 campaign in the final year of his contract with the NFC East team, with much speculation regarding his future due to his side's mediocrity under his tenure.

However, the Cowboys won the NFC East division by posting a 12-4 record, and reached the divisional round of the playoffs for the first time since the 2009 campaign.

As a result, Garrett was rewarded with a new five-year deal, but he has admitted that he was never overly concerned about his future.

"A big part of the culture we talk about is controlling what we can control," Garrett told reporters. "I can honestly say to you that I never really thought very much about that.

"What I do every day is I wake up and try to do everything I can to build the kind of football team that we all can be proud of."

Garrett became head coach of the Cowboys during the 2010 season.
