Cincinnati Bengals announce Sam Montgomery signing

The Cincinnati Bengals confirm that they have signed free agent defensive end Sam Montgomery six months after his release by the Houston Texans.

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced that they have signed free agent defensive end Sam Montgomery.

The 23-year-old was available on the open market after being released by the Houston Texans during the 2013 season for violating team rules.

Montgomery will now compete for a place on the Bengals' roster during the off-season as the club look to fill the void of Michael Johnson who left to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The defensive end was selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Texans.
