Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino: 'We are ready to compete in the transfer market'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino says that the club are "ready to compete" in the transfer market this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that the club are "ready to compete" in the market when the transfer window opens in the summer.

The Argentine believes that his decision to agree a new long-term deal shows the club's intent.

The North London outfit can keep themselves in the Premier League title race if they beat Chelsea - something that they have not done since February 1990 - in tonight's match.

"I think it is important for the players and the potential players that will come that they don't hear rumours about whether Pochettino will be here or not," the Spurs manager told reporters.

"I think that is very important. We are ready to compete in the market and try to add the players that can help us in the future. Not that we need much because we have a good squad already.

"We are ahead in our project. Our aim is to arrive in the new stadium and play in the Champions League and to play at the top."

Anything but a win this evening will hand the title to Leicester City.
