Mauricio Pochettino agrees new deal with Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino reveals that he has verbally agreed a new contract with the North London side.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has verbally agreed a new contract with the North London side.

Pochettino's current deal runs until 2019, but he has agreed an extension lasting until the end of the 2020-21 season.

The Argentine has been a big hit since moving to White Hart Lane from Southampton almost two years ago, leading Spurs to a fifth-place finish and League Cup final in his first year in charge before turning them into a Premier League title hopeful this campaign.

Although they could lose the crown to Leicester City this weekend, the future is bright for Spurs with Pochettino committing his future to the club and a squad built around youth at his disposal.

"It was an easy decision when you feel the love of the people and the potential of the club is massive, so why change?" Pochettino told reporters.

"We create a good atmosphere on the training ground and I think we can achieve big things in the future. I believe in this project and this club. I want to stay here."

The 44-year-old has been regularly linked with the Manchester United job in recent months.
