Jaap Stam wants Reading takeover resolution

Reading manager Jaap Stam reveals that he is hoping that the club's proposed takeover by Chinese siblings the Dais completes in time for the January transfer window.

Reading manager Jaap Stam has admitted that he would like to see the club's proposed takeover by Chinese siblings Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li go through in time for the January transfer window.

The Dais are believed to be in "advanced talks" with the current Thai owners about taking a 75% share in the side, who currently sit third in the Championship.

"It's good for everybody if there is a certain calmness within the club," Stam told the Reading Post. "If it's going to happen it will make it easier to decide what we can do - if anything - in January. In terms of being able to bring in extra quality to give us even more competition to the squad. So it would make things easier in decisions like that."

Asked if he knew how close the deal is to completion, the Dutchman replied: "I don't know. I've heard the same as you guys - but I don't think it's a done deal yet so I don't know what will happen."

Stam has previously admitted that he is unsure if the new owners will keep him on as manager when the sale goes through.
