Rajiv van La Parra discusses "emotional" goal

Huddersfield Town winger Rajiv van La Parra admits that it was "emotional" to score his first goal for the club against former side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Huddersfield Town midfielder Rajiv van La Parra has admitted that his debut goal for the club against former side Wolverhampton Wanderers was "an emotional moment".

The 25-year-old moved to David Wagner's side over the summer in a £750,000 deal amid a Twitter dispute with a group of Wolves supporters.

The travelling fans booed his every touch of the ball during yesterday's encounter at the John Smith's Stadium but the reaction failed to faze him as he gained the game's only goal, ending his former club's unbeaten start to the Championship season in the process.

"It was an emotional moment," Van La Parra told the Huddersfield Examiner after the game. "I wanted to celebrate for our fantastic supporters, but Wolves fans are good too, and I hope they didn't mind.

"Wolves are a good club. They gave me my chance in English football and I am thankful for that. I had a good time there and I only look back to the good moments and wish them all the best.

"They are a really good team and I think they can do well this season. But I am a Huddersfield player and I want us to do well."

Huddersfield have now made their best start to a league season in 68 years and sit two points clear at the top of the Championship table.
