Aaron Ramsey "sad" Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has left Arsenal to join Liverpool

Aaron Ramsey admits that he is "sad" to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leave Arsenal to join Liverpool.

Aaron Ramsey has admitted that Arsenal are losing a "great player" in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the midfielder finalised a move to Liverpool earlier today.

The England international has penned a long-term contract at Anfield after completing a £35m switch from the Emirates.

Chelsea also agreed a fee with the Gunners, but the 24-year-old turned down the champions in order to join Liverpool.

After learning of the news, Ramsey, who has played alongside Oxlade-Chamberlain for the last six years, took to Instagram to write: "Another of our British boys heading on to new things.

"Not only have we lost a great player we've lost a great guy in the changing room and It is sad to see you go mate. Had some great memories over the years playing along side you and I wish you all the best with this new chapter in your life #theOX."

Ramsey initially added the hashtag "#shaaambles" to the post before deleting it, which some fans took as the midfielder criticising Arsenal's decision to let him go, but the Wales international cleared up the confusion.

The 26-year-old tweeted: "Let's all calm down, 'Shaaambles' was a nickname used as a joke for the ox sometimes around the training ground. #personaljoke."

Oxlade-Chamberlain won three FA Cups during his six-year spell at Arsenal.
