Novak Djokovic sees off Stanislas Wawrinka in Cincinnati Open quarter-finals

Novak Djokovic reaches the Cincinnati Open semi-finals for the fifth time thanks to a straight-sets triumph over Stanislas Wawrinka.

Novak Djokovic has beaten Stanislas Wawrinka in straight sets to reach the Cincinnati Open semi-finals for the fifth time.

The world number one will face either Tomas Berdych or Alexandr Dolgopolov for a place in the final.

There was little to separate the two players during a cagey opening set, but Djokovic was able to break at 4-4 before serving it out 6-4.

Wawrinka faded dramatically in the second, allowing Djokovic to capitalise and take a commanding 4-0 lead. From there the Serbian had little trouble sealing a 6-4 6-1 win with just over an hour on the clock.

The event in Cincinnati is the only Masters 1000 title that Djokovic has failed to win during his career.
