Wu Jingyu takes taekwondo gold

China's Wu Jingyu has claimed the Olympic gold medal in the -49kg category of the women's taekwondo with victory over Brigitte Yague Enrique of Spain.

Jingyu had a 4-0 lead after the opening round and made it 6-0 midway through the second.

Yague Enrique pulled one point back, but the Chinese competitor comfortably took the contest 8-1.

Thailand's Chanatip Sonkham and Lucija Zaninovic of Croatia each picked up a bronze medal earlier in the evening.
