Azerbaijan's Radik Isaev wins gold in front of home crowd

Azerbaijan's Radik Isaev wins the final taekwondo gold medal of the European Games in front of his home crowd in Baku.

Azerbaijan's Radik Isaev has secured the final gold medal in taekwondo at the European Games in front of his home supporters at Crystal Hall in Baku.

The 25-year-old wrapped up a narrow 4-3 victory over Vladislav Larin of the Russian Federation in the men's +80kg gold-medal match.

Neither player troubled the scoreboards in the opening round, while Isaev quickly cancelled out a kick from Larin to leave the scores level heading into the third.

Isaev edged in front just moment after the start of the deciding round, before some defensive work helped him secure the title.

Croatia's Vedran Golec and Daniel Ros Gomez of Spain each picked up a bronze.
