Katie Ledecky powers to 200m freestyle gold

USA's Katie Ledecky wins her second gold medal of the 2016 Olympic Games in the 200m freestyle.

Katie Ledecky has held off the challenge of Sarah Sjostrom to win the women's 200m freestyle at the Olympic Games.

The 19-year-old went into the race having already claimed gold in the 400m freestyle but she was made to work harder for glory at half the distance.

The American was outside of the top three after 50 metres but she soon stormed to the front of the field and looked on course for another world record.

Ledecky faded slightly during the final 50 metres as Sjostrom closed her down but the Swede could not edge in front as her rival touched the wall 0.35 seconds ahead of her.

Australia's Emma Mckeon secured the bronze medal.
