Lochte: 'Gold is a stepping stone to Rio'

The USA's Ryan Lochte has claimed that today's historic World gold in the 200m individually medley in Kazan is just a "stepping stone" to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

The 31-year-old stormed to victory in the final to claim four consecutive world titles.

"It definitely means a lot," SwimVortex quotes Lochte as saying. "It goes to show that all the hard work and dedication I put in the pool has paid off. It's just a stepping stone to what I want to accomplish in Rio."

The five-time Olympic champion clocked a time of 1:55.81 in the final.
