Franklin claims backstroke gold for US

Missy Franklin has won a gold medal for the United States in the women's 200m backstroke.

The Missile got off to the perfect start and led from start to finish, smashing the world record with a finish time of 2:04.06.

Anastasia Zueva barely left the top three throughout, and came in at 2:05.92 to take silver. Franklin's compatriot Elizabeth Beisel took bronze.

Team GB's Elizabeth Simmonds put in a bold swim and was unlucky not to make the podium. She was second to turn after 50m, but slipped into fourth during the final stretch.
