Rebecca Adlington bags bronze in 400m freestyle

Great Britain's Rebecca Adlington has earned a bronze medal in the women's 400m freestyle at London 2012.

The Beijing 2008 champion edged out Denmark's Lotte Friis with a finish time of 4:03.98 to claim third place in the event.

Favourite Camille Muffat secured the gold medal for France with a time of 4:01.45, while Allison Schmitt of the United States took home silver with a 4:01.77 finish.

World record-holder, Federica Pellegrini of Italy, had to settle for fourth place.
