GB's Adam Barrett hopes to repay faith by performing at World Championships

Adam Barrett aims to repay the faith shown in him by British Swimming by trying to get on the podium at the World Championships in Russia.

Adam Barrett has claimed that he will try to repay the faith shown in him by British Swimming by performing at the World Championships in Russia next month.

The 22-year-old, who won gold for England in the 4x100m medley at the Commonwealth Games last year, was in danger of missing out on selection due to his performances at the British Swimming Championships.

However, Barrett has been given a chance and will join his GB teammates in Kazan later this month.

"The preparations for Kazan are going pretty well at the moment and I am happy with how I am progressing," Swimming.org quotes Barrett as saying.

"The British Championships weren't the best for me and I didn't really get what I wanted out of them. After that, I got lucky with my selection for the team to go to worlds so I have to make sure that I repay that chance with some quick swims out there."

Competition will get underway on August 2.
