Fran Halsall pushing for medals

Fran Halsall believes that Great Britain is enjoying a "golden age" in swimming.

The Southport star, who will compete in five events in London, said that the country could push Australia and the United States to become a dominant force in the pool.

"We're doing better now than we've ever done," said Halsall. "We've got more people pushing for medals and fighting in finals than ever. We're getting very close to being one of the superpowers in swimming.

"I feel I'm part of a golden age of British swimming, I really do. Becky [Adlington] did amazingly in Beijing and since then we've had more and more people coming through the ranks.

"Others see that and think, 'If they can do it, why can't I?'"

Halsall will take part in the 50m and 100m freestyle, the 100m butterfly and two relay events.
