Hannah Miley wins individual medley heat

Scotland swimmer Hannah Miley qualifies for the 400m individual medley final with a Games record time in her heat.

Team Scotland swimmer Hannah Miley has impressively won her 400m individual medley heat in the first pool event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Miley was third after two turns in her least strong butterfly discipline, but quickly moved ahead of Canadians Emily Overholt and Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson to qualify in a Commonwealth Games record time of 4:38.27.

She was more than a second ahead of Overholt, with the two swimmers the only pair under the 4:40.00 mark across the two heats.

The final takes place at 7.07pm on Thursday night.
