Dual Olympic gold medal winner Rebecca Adlington is focused on the upcoming World Championships in Shanghai.

Rebecca Adlington has vowed not to be distracted by next year's Olympics and is concentrating on the upcoming World Aquatic Championships in Shanghai.

Adlington, who has yet to qualify for Great Britain's Olympics swimming team, will first go for glory in the 200m, 400m and 800m in Shanghai. The last time Adlington was in China she claimed gold medals in the freestyle 400m and 800m events at the 2008 Olympics.

"Who knows if I will even qualify next year, hopefully I will but if not I want to enjoy this experience and journey I am on now. This is our focus and what we have all been training for," said Adlington.

"It's not until after the World Championships that we are all going to think about our next major meet which is the Olympic trials."

Adlington is currently ranked number one in the world in both the 400m and 800m events.
