Silver for England's White in S9 100m
Young Team England swimmer Lewis White marks his Commonwealth Games debut with a silver medal in the men's S9 100m freestyle event.

Young Team England swimmer Lewis White has taken the silver medal in the men's S9 100m freestyle event at the Commonwealth Games.

The 17-year-old - making his Games debut - recorded an impressive time of 56.77 seconds, finishing 0.7 seconds behind home favourite Timothy Disken.

White had led by 0.05s at the time of the split but was outraced by his more experienced counterpart - the reigning Paralympic champion - on the final stretch.

Australia also occupied third spot on the podium after Brenden Hall overcame his teammate Timothy Hodge during the final 50m.

Team England's other competitor in the race, 17-year-old Jacob Leach, came in eighth with a time of 1:02.04.
