Rebecca Adlington expects success at Olympics for Adam Peaty

Adlington tips Peaty for success in Rio

Rebecca Adlington has insisted that England's Adam Peaty has the ability to carry his form at the Commonwealth Games into the next Olympics in 2016.

Peaty won gold in the 100m breaststroke and 4x100m medley in Glasgow, and Adlington believes that there is no reason why the 19-year-old can't continue to challenge when the Olympics head to Rio de Janeiro.

"He's beaten records and has lots of room to improve. I 100% see him on the podium," the double Olympic champion told BBC Radio Derby. "If everything goes to plan I don't see why not.

"He's got the perfect build and he's got the mental strength, and he works hard. At the qualifiers earlier in the year he swam a really good time and looked fantastic, but he was still disappointed because he's so hungry for success."

Peaty recently thanked Adlington for being his mentor in the early stages of his career.
