England's Jenny Duncalf prepared for Commonwealth Games squash quarter-final

Team England's Jenny Duncalf has insisted that she is feeling good ahead of her squash quarter-final showdown with Nicol David.

The 31-year-old beat Canada's Sam Cornett 11-4 11-5 11-7 to comfortably book her passage into the next round at the Emirates Arena.

"I'm pretty pleased, I've not played Sam before so I didn't want to take her for granted at all, she's a good player," Duncalf told reporters following the match. "I started off quite well and managed to keep my focus, I didn't give her any errors and I was moving well."

Looking ahead to the meeting with Malaysia's David, Duncalf added: "I'm playing Nicol next who I lost to in the final last time. It's a bit earlier in the tournament now. At the moment I'm not too bothered about results, as long as I perform well and feel like I have done myself justice, hopefully the result will take care of itself.



"I feel physically I have got as good a chance as I have done for a while. I've played a lot more squash in the last five weeks and I just feel my timing, and hitting and shot selection is a lot more second nature."

Duncalf won a silver medal at the Commonwealths four years ago in Delhi.
