Emma Beddoes: 'Commonwealth Games is pinnacle of my career'

Emma Beddoes admits that competing at the Commonwealth Games is the pinnacle of her career.

England's Emma Beddoes has admitted that competing at the Commonwealth Games is the pinnacle of her career.

Beddoes is bidding for gold in the women's doubles alongside Alison Waters, and the former is keen to relish every game they are able to play at the Games.

"It's without a doubt a highlight of my career, obviously we don't have the Olympics, so it is our pinnacle, everyone wants a gold medal here," the 28-year-old told Team England's official website.

"It's just brilliant, I'm really happy to be here and I just want to be able to get out there again. This is why I play sport, for these big occasions."

Beddoes and Waters cruised to an 11-8, 11-10 win over Alex Clark and Frania Gillen-Buchert of Scotland on Tuesday.
