World Snooker Championship draw: Who do Ronnie O'Sullivan, Luca Brecel play?

Seven-time winner Ronnie O'Sullivan and defending champion Luca Brecel have each discovered their first-round opponents for the 2024 World Snooker Championship.

Qualifying for the latest edition of the Crucible event has been taking place over the past week, with the 16 qualifiers confirmed on Wednesday night.

O'Sullivan has been handed a clash with 22-year-old Welshman Jackson Page, who is making just his second appearance in Sheffield having reached the second round two years ago.

Meanwhile, Brecel will go up against former semi-finalist David Gilbert, who is making his sixth successive outing in the tournament.

What other ties stand out?

The pick of the first-round ties is the contest between 2019 world champion Judd Trump and Iran's Hossein Vafaei, who had to come through qualifying.

Four-time winner Mark Selby plays Joe O'Connor, while in-form Mark Williams faces 2023 semi-finalist Si Jiahui in another exciting last-32 tie.

Jamie Jones's reward for defeating former champion Neil Robertson in qualifying is a showdown with another legendary figure in John Higgins, with Mark Allen going up against Robbie Williams.

The tournament gets underway on Saturday.
