Trump becomes world number one

Judd Trump has risen to the top of the snooker world rankings for the first time in his career.

Trump reached the summit of the game courtesy of a 9-1 thrashing of Peter Ebdon in the International Championship semi-final in Chengdu.

He will now face either Neil Robertson or Shaun Murphy in the final as the best player in the world, knowing that a £125,000 prize fund greets the winner.

The 23-year-old Bristolian, who has beaten the likes of Mark Allen on the way to the final, takes over from Mark Selby as the world number one.
