Teenager Stan Moody wins first-round match at Snooker Shoot Out

Fifteen-year-old Stan Moody progresses through to the second round of the Snooker Shoot Out with victory over China's Lu Ning.

Teenager Stan Moody has recorded a shock first-round win over Lu Ning at the Snooker Shoot Out in Leicester.

The 15-year-old, making his debut in the event, posted a 53-27 victory over the world number 31.

Moody opened with a long red and although both players had chances during the quick-fire contest, the youngster deserved to prevail with plenty to spare.

That result came off the back of defending champion Ryan Day losing to Jak Jones in the opening round of the tournament, Day going down 53-20 in the battle of the Welshmen.

The first round does not conclude until Friday night, with an open draw taking place at the conclusion of play.
