Ronnie O'Sullivan loses out to Noppon Saengkham in World Grand Prix

Ronnie O'Sullivan is out of the World Grand Prix after succumbing to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Thailand's Noppon Saengkham in the last 16 on Wednesday night.

Ronnie O'Sullivan has been eliminated from the World Grand Prix in the last 16 after losing 4-2 to Noppon Saengkham.

The defending champion looked well on course to progress after opening up a two-frame lead, but he was unable to take advantage of that commanding position as Saengkham found a way back into the match.

After getting back on level terms, the Thailand representative produced a 96 break, before taking a sixth frame where both players showcased nerves rather than the qualities seen in the previous five frames.

Nevertheless, Saengkham, who beat Mark Selby in the previous round, sets up a showdown with Mark Williams, who whitewashed Ding Junhui.

The Masters runner-up compiled three breaks in excess of 60 to remain on course for another deep run as he continues to produce some of his best form.

Meanwhile, Jack Lisowski posted four breaks over 50 to overcome China's Zhou Yuelong by a 4-2 scoreline.

Earlier in the day, 10 of Junhui's and Yuelong's Chinese compatriots were each charged after an investigation into match-fixing.

In the afternoon session, where each tie was in the last 32, Shaun Murphy progressed through to the quarter-finals with a 4-0 victory over Ali Carter, while Luca Brecel got the better of Joe Perry by a 4-1 scoreline.

Anthony McGill came through 4-1 versus Gary Wilson, and Sam Craigie overcame Tom Ford 4-2 on his debut outing in the event.
