Ronnie O'Sullivan admits that he may retire following his defeat at the UK Championships this afternoon.

Former world number one Ronnie O'Sullivan has suggested that he is considering retiring from snooker.

The 36-year-old, who has slipped to 12th in the latest rankings, has not emerged victorious in a ranking event for two years.

Speaking after his latest defeat at the UK Championships this afternoon to Judd Trump, O'Sullivan said: "I don't want to take the shine off Judd but I seriously can't see me having much longer playing.

"I think there's more to life, or there is for me."

O'Sullivan has been battling depression over the last few years and is a regular patient of sports psychologist Dr Steve Peter.

"[Peter will] kill me for saying this and opening up like this," O'Sullivan added. "I will talk to him and I think for my own piece of mind, my own life, there is life beyond snooker.

"I still want to work and I'm sure I'll find stuff to do but I want to share my life with someone.

"I don't want to be living on my own, I don't want to travel around the world on my own feeling anxious, carrying these emotions. To be the real Ronnie, I need to get away from what's causing the problem."

O'Sullivan has won 22 ranking titles in his playing career.
