O'Sullivan defeats Trump to win Champion of Champions crown

Ronnie O'Sullivan has won the Champion of Champions event for a fourth time with a 10-6 victory over Judd Trump.

The final was a repeat of the World Championship final earlier this year, a match which O'Sullivan won by an 18-13 scoreline, and Sunday's showdown eventually proved to be as competitive.

At one stage, O'Sullivan held a 6-1 advantage, creating the prospect of the widest margin in any of the 12 finals in its history.

However, with the pressure arguably off, Trump reduced the deficit with a 147 break, his seventh maximum of his career.

That feat acted as the catalyst for a remarkable turnaround, Trump going from 6-1 down to just one frame behind at 7-6, helped by a three-frame burst during the early stages of the evening session.

O'Sullivan was able to withstand the mounting pressure, however, and promptly reeled off the next three frames to seal his first success in this event since 2018.

As well as Trump's maximum, there were also four other centuries, including a 106 and 124 from O'Sullivan during the second half of a high-quality affair.

Before the final, O'Sullivan had lost just five frames in three matches, while Trump dropped just one more frame than the eventual champion.
