Steve Davis, Jimmy White fail to qualify for the World Championship

Davis, White knocked out in qualifying

Snooker legends Steve Davis and Jimmy White have both failed to qualify for this year's World Championship.

Davis, a six-time champion, was thrashed by Kurt Maflin 10-1 in the second round of qualifying at Ponds Forge after trailing 8-1 after the morning session.

White, who was runner-up on six occasions, lost 10-8 to Matthew Selt despite leading 7-2 at the interval.

1997 champion Ken Doherty edged closer to a return to the Crucible Theatre, as he beat Lee Walker 10-6.

The Irishman will play Mark Davies in the next round.
