Vietnam win first ever Olympic gold

Vietnam shooter Vinh Xuan Hoang has won his country's first ever Olympic gold medal.

Hoang picked up the top prize in the men's 10m air pistol event in Rio de Janeiro to write his name into Vietnamese sporting folklore.

Hoang scored 202.5 points to win the gold, edging out home favourite Felipe Wu, who was just 0.4 points behind.

Wu claimed silver to give Brazil their first medal of the Games having been overtaken by Hoang with the final shot.

China's Pang Wei picked up the bronze with a score of 180.4, while London gold medallist Jin Jongoh finished fifth.
