Tim Kneale will be "holding back the tears" for Commonwealth Games

Isle of Man shooter Tim Kneale says that the honour of carrying the Manx flag at the CWG opening ceremony may get the better of him emotionally.

Tim Kneale has revealed that he will be "holding back the tears" tonight as he flies the flag for the Isle of Man in the opening ceremony for the Commonwealth Games.

The 31-year-old shooter is poised to lead his island's 45-strong team out at Celtic Park this evening, and he says that carrying the Manx flag will make him "very emotional".

"It is going to be overwhelming - I will be holding the tears back," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"It will be very emotional to be representing the Isle of Man in front of such a big crowd and knowing that everyone is watching and cheering us on back home.

"The Isle of man has some fantastic talent and some unbelievable athletes so be given this honour is amazing."

Kneale, who recently broke a world record for a double trap event, will be looking to improve on his showing from Delhi four years ago, where he came away with a bronze medal.

The Games kick off at 8pm tonight.
