Great Britain's Nick Dempsey wins windsurfing silver

Great Britain's Nick Dempsey has claimed the silver medal in the men's RS:X at the Rio Olympics.

The 35-year-old had guaranteed himself second place on the podium with today's final race still to come, and crossed the line in fourth to officially confirm the result.

Dempsey defended the silver he won in London four years ago, and will now retire from the sport having clinched his third Olympic medal.

The Brit also won a bronze in Athens in 2004 and retires as Team GB's most successful windsurfer of all time.

Dorian van Rijsselberghe of the Netherlands claimed gold to retain his Olympic title.
