Ainslie targets Rio Olympics

British sailor Ben Ainslie has admitted that he would like to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The 35-year-old was reportedly considering retirement after winning his fourth consecutive gold medal at a Games in London earlier this summer.

However, the Macclesfield-born competitor has given a strong indication that he is keen to represent his nation in Brazil.

"I'd love to be in Rio if it's possible," the 35-year-old told BBC Sport.

"The next Olympics are a long way off and the focus is on the America's Cup now. But the Olympics have been a huge part of my life and I'd like to be involved in the next Games."

Ainslie's first competed at an Olympics in Atlanta 1996.
