Great Britain's Nick Thompson to treat sailing test event in Rio as an Olympics

Nick Thompson insists that Great Britain will treat next month's sailing test event in Brazil like the Olympics.

Great Britain's Nick Thompson has insisted that he and his teammates will treat next month's sailing test event in Rio de Janeiro like the Olympics.

A 15-strong British team will compete across 10 Olympic classes from August 15 to 22 in the Aquece Rio International Regatta.

"As a team I think we're doing a great job of really trying to treat this as an Olympics," ESPN quotes Thompson as saying. "We'll be spending a similar amount of time out there with a similar build up to it as if it were the Games."

Last week, Thompson won the Laser World Championships in Canada.
