Team SCA have ended a 25-year streak by becoming the first all-female crew to win a leg of the Volvo Ocean Race since the 1989-1990 edition.
Briton Sam Davies skippered the team to victory by more than 48 minutes on the eighth leg from Lisbon to Lorient.
Only four all-female crews have competed in the race in its 41-year history, with Team SCA the first to take part for a decade.
Their triumph has taken them up to sixth in the overall standings, with Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing on course for an emphatic victory with just one stage remaining.
