Worcester pick up an important win with a 16-7 victory over Bath.

Worcester Warriors have secured a much-needed win with a 16-7 triumph over Bath at Sixways Stadium.

The hosts took the lead after ten minutes when Joe Carlisle kicked over a penalty.

Bath's Stephen Donald could have put the visitors ahead, but the New Zealander missed with two penalties.

In a tight opening 40 minutes, the Warriors touched down with the last move of the half when Miles Benjamin broke free to score a try. Carlisle was successful in kicking the extras.

Another penalty for Carlisle on the hour stretched Worcester's lead to 13-0.

A lengthy break in play was needed when Bath's Dave Attwood looked to have suffered a serious injury in the ruck. The forward was eventually stretchered off by medical staff.

The away side were given a lifeline with ten minutes to play when the video referee adjudged Charlie Beech to have crossed the line for a try. Replacement Olly Barkley, making a return from injury, made the conversion.

However, the Warriors gave themselves a vital advantage when veteran Andy Goode scored with a drop goal with five minutes to play.
