Saracens bring in hooker Dave Porecki on short-term deal

Saracens bring in Australian hooker Dave Porecki as cover during the Rugby World Cup.

Saracens have confirmed the signing of Australian hooker Dave Porecki as cover during the Rugby World Cup.

The 22-year-old has joined the Aviva Premiership champions from Manly Marlins Rugby on a short-term deal.

Porecki had been training with Sarries before penning a contract at Allianz Park.

"With Jamie George and Schalk Brits potentially away with England and South Africa for the World Cup we felt that we needed some more depth in the hooking position," director of rugby Mark McCall is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"Alongside Scott Spurling and Jared Saunders, Dave will provide us with more options. He has been training with us since we returned to pre-season and has fitted into the club very well."

Saracens begin the defence of their title at home to Sale Sharks on October 17.
