Mark McCall pleased with Saracens energy against Toulouse

Mark McCall hails Saracens' first-half performance after they beat Toulouse 32-7 in their opening European Rugby Champions Cup pool match.

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall has praised his side's energy and defence after they beat Toulouse in their opening European Rugby Champions Cup game.

Chris Wyles scored two tries at Allianz Park as the Aviva Premiership leaders ran out 32-7 winners against Stade.

However, McCall has suggested that much of the good work from Saracens came before the half-time whistle.

"We have got to be delighted with how we played in that first half. I thought it was outstanding," he told reporters.

"Sometimes, the frustration of the last 25 or 30 minutes can make you disregard some of the really good things you did. I thought the first half was magnificent.

"Our energy was brilliant, our defence was brilliant and our attack was really good. We probably left a couple of tries out there in the first 20 minutes of the match."

Sarries face Ulster in their next pool game, while Toulouse play host to Oyonnax.
