John Mitchell has left his role as coach of Sale Sharks after one month in charge.

The South African had been due to lead the Aviva Premiership's bottom-placed club until the end of the season.

Steve Diamond, Bryan Redpath and Pete Anglesea will take over team matters following the 48-year-old's departure.

Sale are currently one point from safety at the foot of the table, but they managed to register only their second win of the campaign on Friday night with a 33-27 triumph over Worcester Warriors.
