Sale Sharks’ Will Cliff could be joining Leeds Carnegie under the teams' dual-registration deal after the World Cup.
Leeds went into a player-share agreement with the Premiership side after they were relegated last season. Centre Iain Thornley was the first Sale player to make the switch, with Cliff expected to follow.
The Championship side’s head coach Diccon Edwards has admitted that the deal may not go through until after the World Cup.
"We're in negotiations with Sale but a lot is dependent on the Wales World Cup squad,” Edwards told BBC Radio Leeds.
"We'll be looking to bring him over to add to what we've got and compete with the two scrum-halves we've got."
The 22-year-old recently completed a loan stint at Glasgow Warriors.
