Northampton Saints overcome Ospreys

Northampton Saints earn a nervy 20-9 win at Ospreys in the European Rugby Champions Cup.

Northampton Saints have remained on course for a first-placed finish in Pool 5 of the European Rugby Champions Cup with a 20-9 win at Ospreys.

The Saints will face Racing Metro next weekend, with the winner clinching top spot in the group.

Dan Biggar kicked over three penalties for the hosts during a cagey first half, but tries from Calum Clark and George North made sure that Northampton were on top.

Stephen Myler also contributed significantly to the Saints' cause, kicking over an additional seven points to put them 17-9 up at the break.

There was little to separate the teams in the second half as both fought doggedly for possession and territory.

However, a key moment came with 10 minutes remaining when Myler scored a penalty to give Northampton the necessary breathing space to close out the game.
