Northampton Saints too strong for Newcastle Falcons

Tom Collins scores two tries to lead Northampton Saints to a 37-23 win over Newcastle Falcons in the LV= Cup.

Northampton Saints cruised to a comfortable 37-23 win over Newcastle Falcons in their LV= Cup match this evening.

The Falcons initially took the lead when Tom Catterick took the ball out wide before diving over in the corner.

However, Tom Collins found the line for the home side just four minutes later, while Teimana Harrison and Mike Haywood also went over before the break to leave Northampton ahead.

Rory Clegg kicked a series of penalties before the break, though, to keep Newcastle in contention heading into the second half.

Collins ended their hopes of a comeback 15 minutes into the second period when he powered over for his second try of the match.

Juan Pablo Socino made the scoreline more respectable for the Falcons late on, taking advantage of some slow reactions in the Northampton defence to cross the whitewash.
