Saints win tryless encounter

Northampton Saints edged a close match against Castres in the Heineken Cup this evening.

The two sides were well matched in the first half, Steve Myler and Rory Kockott each kicking two penalties to see the sides level at half time.

The visitors were reduced to 14 men after Anton Peikrishvili was shown a yellow card for pulling down in the maul.

After the break, there were few try-scoring opportunities, with both teams relying on penalties to add to the score.

Myler was replaced by Ryan Lamb, who was on solid form with the kicking duties, helping the hosts to a six-point lead, with neither side scoring a try throughout the tie.

The win moves Northampton above Castres in to second in pool four.
