Sonny Bill Williams will extend his stay at New Zealand Rugby Union until 2012 with a new contract.
Despite reports suggesting that the 25-year-old would make a switch to a European rugby union club or return to Australia’s rugby league, the New Zealand native has decided to stay put.
"[My aim was to] make the World Cup squad and then go back off shore and do my trade over there,” Williams told reporters.
“But all the generations from old people to young people and the amount of support I have got has been so humbling.”
Williams has cemented himself in the All Blacks inside centre, and is expected to be included in New Zealand’s squad to face South Africa in the Tri-Nations opener on Saturday.
